Untitled Portraits — Anatolia — Black
The black-and-white portraits from across Anatolia — Doğubayazıt, the village of Hörmetçi near Kayseri, and the highlands of Rize. Weathered faces, animals, snow, stripped down to light and dark.
[ Series manifesto ]
Most of the Anatolia work is black and white, because most days out here are. Grey sky, grey stone, a face that has been outside its whole life. I shot these to be read as light and shadow, nothing else getting in the way of the eyes. Nothing posed. One frame, then they went back to it.
