Untitled Portraits — Nepal / 07The Crown of Faces
Color portrait of a bearded man with an orange and white painted face wearing a tall headdress of painted deity faces and bells, against a brick wall — fine art portrait by Sefa Yamak, Nepal series.

Kathmandu, Nepal · 2017

The Crown of Faces

The headdress was the tallest I saw, built up with painted faces and two brass bells hanging at the sides.

This story imagines, it does not document. It is what the photograph made me feel.

His own face was orange and white, and he rested a ring-heavy hand against his beard. He held the pose without much fuss. Behind him the brick wall was a plain warm red, which kept all the color in the foreground.
