Untitled Portraits — Nepal / 01Ash and Light
Black and white close portrait of a bearded man with pale tilaka markings on his forehead and hair tied in a knot — fine art portrait by Sefa Yamak, Nepal series.

Kathmandu, Nepal · 2017

Ash and Light

He sat very still while I worked.

This story imagines, it does not document. It is what the photograph made me feel.

The pale clay on his forehead had dried and cracked a little, and his beard went on past the edge of the frame. I am not sure he was looking at me, or past me. We didn't share much language, so mostly there was just the quiet of waiting for the shutter.
