Untitled Portraits — Istanbul / 20Through the Ferry Glass
An old man in a hat sits behind a ferry window, life rings and the deck reflected in the glass — street photograph by Sefa Yamak, Istanbul series.

Istanbul, Turkey · 2018

Through the Ferry Glass

He sat inside the cabin in a felt hat, watching the water through the glass.

This story imagines, it does not document. It is what the photograph made me feel.

The window threw back the deck rail and a row of orange life rings over his face. A red coat lay on the empty bench outside. I shot from along the side deck and let the reflection layer over him.
