Out of the Dark
His long hair and heavy grey beard caught what little light there was, and the rest of him went into black.

This story imagines, it does not document. It is what the photograph made me feel.
A curl of beard fell across his nose. He looked at me steadily, almost gently. I held the frame close so the dark could do most of the work.
