He wore a knitted cap with a zigzag pattern and a worn fleece vest over a blue shirt.

This story imagines, it does not document. It is what the photograph made me feel.
The light came from one side and left half his face in shadow. His eyes were watering a little and he looked just past the lens. I kept everything dark around him and let the face hold the light.
