It was snowing hard and he stood under a clear plastic umbrella, smiling like the cold was nothing.

This story imagines, it does not document. It is what the photograph made me feel.
His grey beard had a few flakes caught in it. Behind him the ground had gone white and a bridge rail blurred into the storm. He looked happy to be seen.
