She sat against a brick wall and let me come close.

This story imagines, it does not document. It is what the photograph made me feel.
Every line on her face caught the light, and her eyes held two different colors of attention. She did not arrange herself or soften anything. I stayed quiet and let the wall and her face do the talking.
