Untitled Portraits — Istanbul / 08Ferry Window
A man leans on the sill inside a ferry window, smiling, with another boat reflected in the glass — street photograph by Sefa Yamak, Istanbul series.

Istanbul, Turkey · 2018

Ferry Window

He leaned his arms on the sill of a ferry window and smiled out at the dock.

This story imagines, it does not document. It is what the photograph made me feel.

The white hull framed him on both sides, and the next boat showed up faint in the glass. He looked like a man with time to wait. I shot from across the gangway before we both moved on.
