I shot up at him from below and the gulls filled the grey sky all around his head.

This story imagines, it does not document. It is what the photograph made me feel.
He wore a red vest over a hoodie and a black beanie, and he was half-laughing at me. The birds kept circling close, used to people and bread. I took it before the flock scattered.
