Dusk on His Face
He turned back toward me with the last warm light on one side of his face.

This story imagines, it does not document. It is what the photograph made me feel.
There is dust on his cheek and a small scratch near his brow. Behind him the sky had already gone cold and blue over the hills. He did not pose. He just looked, and I made the picture.
